They have come up with a great idea to start engaging with their fans though. We’re going to have part of the photo shoot take place where we can invite about 100 people to come in and listen to the guys play. We’re looking at two different rehearsal studios in L.A. to do this. Once they figure out which one will be best we’ll start inviting people.  Of course first on the list are the folks who have registered at newrockband.homestead.com and live in the L.A. area.

That’ll be the first chance the guys have for feedback – unless the website gets finished first.  I’ve seen the wireframes and a little bit of design and I’m liking what I see but it’s slow going,  It isn’t realy that slow it just feels that slow because we’re in a hurry for it.

I haven’t heard the songs so I asked the guys to describe it to me. You’d think since they’re creative types they’d be able to do that. But no.  Guess I’ll have to wait like everyone else.

The photo shoot isn’t working out how I initially envisioned it. I thought we’d be able to set up a photo shoot near the pool on the roof of a condo building where a friend of mine lives. But it turned out the condo board wouldn’t allow the shoot. Said they had problems with people doing shoots up there in the past so they wouldn’t let anyone else do it.

We also planned to take some staged shots outside some of the more notorious rock spots on Sunset but the city required a ridiculous amount of insurance to approve that.

And we learned that if the “Hollywood” sign is visible in any commercial photo you have to pay a fee for that too.

Who knew taking photos would be so difficult?

The only one not giving us shit is the rehearsal studio. Thank goodness there are still some sane people in the world….and no surprise they’re musicians. Everyone else is either worried about being sued or getting their cut.

We’ll definitely get the band shots – we’re just not sure WHERE right now. But what’ll be more fun than that is the candid shots we’ll get.  I want to capture all the guys’ different personalities on film if we can.  These guys are all so different but when they come together, man can they R-O-C-K!

I’m also in the market for a videographer to capture the photo shoot on video.

All of this will get posted to the site for the fans who are helping the band make the decisions on everything.

Sound Check Over. Nap Before The Gig.

Traditionally a band would get together, write music, get local gigs, play out and see how our music is accepted by fans.

It occurred to us that if we worked with the fans WHILE we write the music – and get feedback along the way – we can really write some good shit.

We’re looking for about 1000 people across the U.S. who love the gritty, raw rock sound to collaborate with us.  We’re looking for hard core rock addicts who love bands like Motley Crue, Poison, LA Guns, Velvet Revolver, White Snake, Stone Temple Pilots, Dangerous Toys, Ratt, GnR. You know who you are.

Once our website is up (soon) we’ll load our music and ask our fans for feedback.  The site is locked so you’ll need to register to share your thoughts. Based on what you tell us, we’ll tweak the song until you tell us it’s “there.”

We’re also looking for our fans’ help to name our band. Through the site we’ll take suggestions, then post all the suggestions for votes and our name will be a result of that.

Our fans will share thoughts about song titles, tour routes, band promos,  merch and everything bands have to make decisions about.

In exchange for taking the time to help us out, our fans will earn points for each activity they take.  The person with the most points will earn a rockstar experience in L.A. for our first concert – airfare, limo-driven transportation, hotel accommodations, VIP concert tickets, meet and greet and photos with the band.

Along the way, the participating fans will get free swag.

We really want to build a relationship with our fans by working with you hard core rockers.
